Henry Waddy The First Postmaster

This is an image from an 1882 postcard commemorating the 200th Anniversary Postal Service in the state of Pennsylvania.  The front image depicted here shows Henry Waddy (misspelled Waldy) riding a horse along a plank road likely along the Delaware River.  Waddy was appointed the first Postmaster by William Penn and lived near "Tacony Hill," an area near where Bustleton and Frankford Avenues converge today.  The flip side of the postcard recognizes the Bicentennal Committee and depicts a locomotive (then the mode of postal service travel) and the name of then-Postmaster, H.S. Huidekoper.
